Fallon and Lena, December 2011, their first BIG barrel race, had a fabulous weekend! Very proud of both of them. I purchased Lena from a breeder in Plaquemine Louisianna, LeBlanc Quarter horses (http://www.leblancquarterhorses.com/). I bought her when she was 3 days old, picked her up at 4 months and have worked her tail off since then. She's a gritty mare, super smart and extremely athletic. She is one that tests you, she understands what you want but she pushes you to be your best and she gives you everything she has. This is one of my horses that I will live in a card board box, under an over pass with her long before I sell her.
Now Fallon has only been riding her since the very end of 2010. We started Lena walking the pattern for a few months, then in March of 2011 sent her to a friend to push her on barrels, she was only gone for 30 days and came back amazing. Fallon and Lena have been making great progress since!
In less than a year this team is proving to be a solid 2D team. Fallon still has a ways to go building her confidence once she is there, this will be a solid 1D team. Lena is barely 14.2 and about 1,000lbs and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Lena has been shown locally in Halter and Walk/Trot since she was 2. in 2011 for WCSC she was 1st place for the year in Open Halter, very proud of her for that.
The 2012 WCSC season was very good to Lena and Fallon! Lena missed 2 full shows due to a strained or pulled muscle and they were still 1st in poles, 1st in speed, 2nd in barrels, 2nd in flags, placed in halter, Jr. Western Pleasure, Jr. Walk Trot! The only thing they did not place in was Horsemanship. AND they also won the Youth All Around Saddle! Very Very proud of them!
